The JackRabbit Online Reservation Engine is a lightweight reservation system that is provided for FREE to participating BookDirect customers.  The Reservation Engine allows lodging properties to input room inventory and start receiving online reservations from website visitors.

The default configuration uses JackRabbit gateway credentials to perform an authorization on the guest's credit card to verify that reservation should go through: no funds are charged to the guest or transferred to the hotel during this type of transaction — in order to charge the guest, you must swipe the card on your own terminal when the guest checks in. Should you require the ability to charge guests prior to their arrival (e.g. deposits, cancellation fees, etc.), you can can upgrade to a private Authorize.net Customer Information Manager and Gateway account, which allows the JackRabbit Reservation Engine to capture and securely store customer credit card information.  There are no charges from JackRabbit to upgrade to this option — Authorize.net charges modest monthly and transactional fees.

The JackRabbit Reservation Engine is provided for FREE based on a primarily "self-serve" concept: JackRabbit offers a user forum that should address most basic questions; customized phone support is available on a paid basis.
